Student Code of Conduct


At Australian Dog Grooming School (ADGS), we are committed to providing a safe, supportive and professional learning environment for all students, trainers, staff, dog owners and dogs.


By attending any Australian Dog Grooming School course, workshop, private training session or educational program, students agree to uphold the following standards of behaviour.

1. Respect for Others
Students must always:

  • Treat trainers, staff, fellow students, and dog owners with courtesy and respect.

  • Communicate professionally and politely.

  • Respect differences in opinions, backgrounds, experience levels and learning styles.

  • Contribute positively to the learning environment.


Bullying, intimidation, discrimination, harassment, threatening behaviour or abusive
language will not be tolerated.

2. Respect for Dogs
The welfare of every dog is our highest priority.
Students agree to:

  • Handle every dog calmly, patiently and professionally.

  • Follow all trainer instructions regarding handling techniques.

  • Never use excessive force, intimidation or punishment.

  • Immediately advise a trainer if they feel uncomfortable handling a particular dog.

  • Always prioritise the dog's welfare over completing a groom.
     

Any deliberate mistreatment or rough handling of a dog may result in immediate removal from the course and may be reported to the appropriate authorities where required.
 

3. Professional Behaviour
Students are expected to:

  • Arrive on time each day.

  • Be prepared and ready to participate.

  • Wear appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear.

  • Maintain good personal hygiene.

  • Follow trainer instructions at all times.

  • Conduct themselves professionally throughout the course.
     

4. Health & Safety
Students must:

  • Follow all Workplace Health & Safety procedures.

  • Use grooming equipment safely and correctly.

  • Immediately report damaged equipment or hazards.

  • Report any injury, illness or incident to a trainer.

  • Never undertake a task they have not been instructed to perform.
     

Safety directions given by trainers must be followed immediately.
 

5. Alcohol, Drugs & Impairment
Students must not attend training while:

  • under the influence of alcohol;

  • under the influence of illegal drugs;

  • impaired by medication that affects their ability to work safely.
     

Australian Dog Grooming School reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any student who appears impaired or whose condition poses a risk to themselves, others or the dogs.
 

6. Attendance
Students are expected to attend every scheduled training session.

If you are running late or unable to attend, you must contact Administration via phone or SMS as soon as possible. Repeated lateness or unexplained absences may affect your ability to successfully complete the course.
 

7. Mobile Phones
To minimise distractions:

  • phones should remain on silent during class;

  • personal calls should only be taken during breaks unless there is an emergency;

  • excessive phone use during training is not permitted.
     

8. Photography & Social Media
Students must:

  • respect the privacy of fellow students and dog owners; obtain permission before photographing or filming another person;

  • not publish confidential school material online;

  • represent Australian Dog Grooming School professionally on social media.
     

Any social media content that damages the reputation of Australian Dog Grooming School, its staff, students or clients may be treated as a breach of this Code.
 

9. Confidential Information & Intellectual Property
Students acknowledge that Australian Dog Grooming Schools:

  • course manuals;

  • online learning;

  • SOPs;

  • templates;

  • playbooks;

  • teaching methods;

  • operational procedures;

  • educational resources;

  • pricing systems; and

  • business information

remain the intellectual property and confidential information of Australian Dog Grooming School.

These materials must not be copied, reproduced, shared, uploaded, distributed, sold or used for commercial purposes without prior written consent.
 

10. Promotional Offers
Where a promotional offer contains confidentiality requirements, students agree not to discuss promotional pricing, discounts, bonus items or promotional incentives with other students or trainers.

 

Questions regarding promotional offers should always be directed to the Administration Team.

 

Failure to comply with promotional confidentiality requirements may result in promotional bonuses that have not yet been issued being withheld, where permitted by law.

11. School Property
Students must:

  • treat all equipment with care;

  • maintain a clean workstation;

  • return borrowed equipment;

  • report accidental damage immediately.
     

Intentional damage to school property may result in the student being responsible for repair or replacement costs.
 

12. Learning Environment
Students are expected to help maintain a positive learning environment.

Behaviour that may be considered unacceptable includes, but is not limited to:

  • disruptive behaviour;

  • repeated refusal to follow trainer instructions;

  • aggressive behaviour;

  • inappropriate language;

  • bullying or harassment;

  • discrimination;

  • unsafe handling of dogs;

  • unsafe use of equipment;

  • behaviour that negatively impacts other students' learning.
     

13. Consequences of Breaches
Where this Code of Conduct is breached, Australian Dog Grooming School may, at its discretion:

  • provide a verbal warning;

  • issue a written warning;

  • remove a student from practical training for the day;

  • require a student to leave the premises;

  • terminate a students enrolment without refund where the behaviour is serious, repeated or places the safety of people or dogs at risk.


Each matter will be assessed on its individual circumstances.

14. Acknowledgement
By enrolling with Australian Dog Grooming School, students acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to comply with this Student Code of Conduct throughout the duration of their training.
